The immediate goal of this class, quite simply, is to encourage consideration of choices before taking action when faced with a dilemma. Neither the particular situation nor the venue matters. Whether at home, the workplace, school or sporting event, think through the ramifications of decisions. How will the outcome affect you, your family, business associates, fellow students, teammates or opponents, etc.? Will the result make you proud? Who will benefit from it? Who might be adversely affected and how?

In pursuing ethics, we do not seek a definition of a philosophic term. Rather, we hope to create a habit of behavior that is truthful, fair and beneficial to all parties. Once this becomes habit, we are able to respond as a matter of course rather than one of thought. Routinely, we will do the right thing for no other reason than it is the right thing to do. Doing the right thing is the right thing to do. Most often, we know the right thing to do, but the bigger question is...."What would YOU do...really do...in that situation. We should always remember that we're not what we say we'll do....."WE ARE WHAT WE DO".

This course introduces you to the principles of ethics in business and ethics in life because Ethics Are Ethics.

To successfully complete this course, you must view all course content and complete all course assignments, exercises, assessments, and forum postings. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate of completion.

  • If you successfully complete this course and you do not represent a BBB Accredited Business at the time of your online registration, but it becomes accredited within 60 days of that date, you will receive a $40 rebate on the course.  Once accredited, and a certain percentage of employees complete the course, the business will receive the IPoE logo and BBB website listing.  (Limit one rebate per company.)

People want to do business with companies they know to be ethical. Businesses which commit themselves to ethics and educating their staffs toward this end will receive for their use the BBB In Pursuit of Ethics certificate. This certificate is reserved only for those making the most dedicated commitment to being an ethics-minded business.

  • BRONZE STATUS - When 20% of a business's staff complete In Pursuit of Ethics training, a certificate will be awarded to the company announcing it is "Involved in the Pursuit of Ethics."
  • SILVER STATUS - Once the 50% level is attained, the company will receive a certificate proclaiming that it is "Dedicated to the Pursuit of Ethics."
